Math Vocabulary Lesson Templates

Math Language That Works

The Math Vocabulary Lesson Templates (Part 4 of Math Language That Works) are blank strategy templates intended for teacher lesson planning. Teachers can create effective lessons for explicitly teaching mathematics vocabulary. Explicit vocabulary instruction using these templates will deepen students' understanding of mathematical concepts.

How to use these templates:

  1. Determine the mathematics vocabulary term(s) to teach.
  2. Select an appropriate lesson template for instruction.
  3. Read the descriptions and purpose for each lesson template to determine the most appropriate strategy for instruction.
  4. Refer to the template for lesson directions.
  5. Identify the explanations of the vocabulary term(s).
  6. Copy the explanation and examples for the vocabulary term(s) onto your selected lesson template.
