CDE - STAR CST Blueprints

When viewing the CDE Blueprints page, scroll down to see SCIENCE BLUEPRINTS: Grade 5, 8, 10, Biology/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Physics, and the Integrated Sciences.

CST - Science & Integrated Sciences

The purpose of the California Standards Tests (CSTs) is to measure the degree to which students are achieving the academically rigorous content standards adopted by the State Board of Education.

Elementary

  • At the elementary level, science is assessed at grade 5 and the Fifth Grade Science blueprint is provided for this test. The test covers the grades 4 and 5 science standards.

High School

  • At the high school level, science is assessed by discipline rather than grade level. Blueprints are provided for the discipline-specific tests: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics, as well as for the Integrated/Coordinated Science 1, 2, 3, 4 tests.

NCLB Science

CST and NCLB Science Reference Sheets

Beginning in 2007, NCLB requires each state to administer, at least once in grade spans 3-5, 6-9, and 10-12, standards-based science tests each year. The tests are designed to measure the science concepts and skills that all students within the designated grades should know and understand.
